In response to the attack on the nation’s Capitol and incitement of violence, THE COLOR OF EXCELLENCE™ condemns the blatant disregard of the very truths that this nation says that it holds to be self-evident. Again, it has been illustrated that all men and women are not created equal in their pursuit of their unalienable rights - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We stand against the disparate treatment of black and brown lives.
We stand against the disparate treatment of people of color in and by the law.
We stand against the acts of violence, both conscious and unconscious, against men and women of color.
We stand against domestic terrorism that’s used to victimize people of color.
We stand against the blatant disregard for fairness and justice.
We stand against this type of hate.
We stand against this display of hate in America.

Racism and white supremacy is a national emergency that needs to be immediately addressed. It is imperative that each and every person face matters of race and discrimination in themselves and each environment in which they operate. It is imperative that we all create and enforce systems that combat racial and social injustice. It is imperative that our nation, as a whole, not just gloss over what we’ve seen, but work diligently to prevent it from happening ever again.

THE COLOR OF EXCELLENCE™ will continue to stand in the gap for our members as they deal with trauma of this experience and others. We will continue to educate, enhance, and empower law students and attorneys of color because they deserve support in moments like these. We will continue to stand for fairness and justice for all.
